My Background
Hello, my name is Ms. Hope and I am veteran tutor and veteran school teacher who has a passion for helping young minds learn! I received my Bachelors of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University where I graduated as a distinguished scholar with a GPA of 3.78. I am also a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta National Honor Society. I received my Master's Degree in Education with Specialization from Texas State University. I am a Texas Board Certified Teacher accredited by the State of Texas and Texas State University.
I have taught and tutored many students over the years, some students as young as 2 years old and other students who are adults returning as college students to finish their degree or who are getting their GED. As a certified teacher in the classroom I taught mainly elementary grades. I have taught all subjects but I am specialized in science. I have tutored students in all subjects as well. Besides being a classroom teacher and a professional tutor, I have also taught students as an interventions teacher for a few years. (An interventions teacher, teaches a class that is designed for students who need extra help with school for a variety reasons. Some reasons a student may be in an interventions class may include: learning issues, behavior problems, physical disabilities and mental disabilities). Before I was a certified teacher, I worked as an individual, one-on-one tutor and taught preschool.
The types of students I have taught and or tutored vary greatly from one another in age and in skill level. I have worked with students who may just need a little extra help. I also have worked with students who need a different approach/ explanation of a subject to truly grasp the concept being taught. Many students I have worked with simply need positive reinforcement and positive affirmations with their studies in order to be confident in class and confident when taking exams. I have taught many students who have fear or anxiety with a certain subject(s), for example, many students are intimidated by math and reading (especially reading out loud). I have also taught students that have learning difficulties, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, behavior issues, difficulty staying still or focused, are on the Autism spectrum, have ADD, and/or have ADHD.
It is my belief that we are all capable of learning and can succeed! None of my approaches or teachings will ever be "cookie cutter". I tailor my teaching/ tutoring methods and lessons to YOUR child’s individual needs and learning style! I truly believe that it is because of my patience, passion, and my customized approaches to teaching, that provide my students with such success and confidence academically. It is truly a gift and a joy to see a someone learn!

Or, is a teacher/ tutor needed for longer than just 1 hour a day, or, possibly a teacher/ tutor is needed for more than once a day.

Even though it may sound ridiculous or like an excuse; believe it or not, your child's environment deeply impacts their ability to remain focused, retain the information taught, and complete their assignments!
Things such as sounds in the background (for example, the ticking sound of a clock) can completely derail the learning process for some children.
Is there a pencil sharpener on their desk or in their pencil box? Though having a pencil sharpener close by may be fine for some students, other students use sharpening pencils as an excuse to procrastinate.
***********This session gives Parent(s)/ Guardian(s) the opportunity to talk with a veteran, Board Certified Teacher about what issues or concerns are occurring with their child and if they notice any specific problems with their child’s learning environment. If, the parent/ guardian would like, the teacher can even take a look (via web camera) at the child's learning environment. Then the teacher can give recommendations and ideas on how to best arrange your child's learning space according to the child's specific needs. *You can book this session as many times as you like because sometimes a child's needs change as they grow and mature.
What a wonderful experience my daughter just had with her tutor, Ms. Hope! She is already excited for her next tutoring session with Ms. Hope! As a parent, I am always hesitant with anything online/virtual when it involves my child, but, I am so pleased with this tutoring service, this is the real deal!!! My 2 year old son, Teddy, absolutely loves Ms. Hope’s online preschool class!! He now asks for Ms. Hope by name because he loves her happy and vibrant energy and her colorful hair and outfits!
